Be ribboned

Made from laminated leather, and almost certainly unwearable, these shoes by Marloes ten Bhömer give the delightful impression of ribbons wrapped around your feet.

Christoph Niemann – I LEGO N.Y.

Graphic artist Christoph Niemann misses NYC. He built these ingenious Lego representations of memories of his old home. I don’t get all of them, not being as familiar with the city myself, but I still got a kick out of his clever pixels.

My favorites:

Be sure to check out Niemann’s own site, which has several galleries of his graphic work. Really cool stuff.

Color-coded libraries

I had heard of this before, but it never really appealed to me. How would you find anything? It would irritate the crap out of me and my bordering-on-psychotic need for order. Then I saw this photo, and my right brain went, “Yeeeeeessssss.”

Henry Sene Yee Design

Pow!

This one is over there in the links section, but I wanted to highlight it anyway, because it’s one of my favorites, combining my love of books and awesome graphic design. I find the backstory for each design fascinating — there’s usually an explanation of the process for finding each element and how they were put together, as well as alternate designs that didn’t make the cut.
